Data the app uses
My GPS (package se.roadpilot.app) is a navigation app by Svensson Labs. No account is required. The app uses device information for maps, place search, routing and navigation. Some features are optional.
- Location: approximate or precise GPS location, heading, speed and destination or route coordinates for maps, nearby search, routing, traffic, weather and navigation.
- Trips and saved places: destinations, timestamps, distances, favourites and journey history are stored locally on your device.
- Bluetooth: the name and identifier of a car device you choose for automatic connection features are stored locally.
- Microphone and voice: when enabled, local Vosk-based speech recognition may process speech on your phone. Your chosen Android speech or voice service may process voice online.
- Profile and preferences: profile name, vehicle appearance, optional profile photo and settings are stored locally.
- Diagnostics: Google Firebase Crashlytics may collect crash details, app/device details and technical identifiers for troubleshooting.
How and why we use data
Location powers the map, journey planning, active route guidance, traffic, weather and nearby points of interest. During active navigation, location may continue to be processed by a visible foreground service while the app is not on screen or the screen is locked. You can end a trip in the app or from its notification. An optional Bluetooth feature can detect your chosen car connection and open the app.
Trip history, saved places and profile data support on-device personal features. Crash reports support reliability. Location is not used to target advertisements and the app does not include an advertising SDK.
External providers and data sharing
Online map tiles, geocoding, routes, transit, traffic, imagery, weather, air quality and sightseeing features can send relevant search terms, location or route coordinates, and network information to external services. Depending on the selected feature, providers may include OpenStreetMap-based services, OSRM, Valhalla, Photon/Komoot, Esri, MapTiler (when selected), the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), ResRobot, Open-Meteo, SMHI, Wikimedia/Wikipedia and Mapillary. Providers may receive your IP address and request contents, and apply their own privacy policies.
If you configure the optional AI assistant, typed or dictated questions are sent to the AI provider or HTTPS server you choose, for example OpenAI, Google, Anthropic or NVIDIA. If you explicitly enable journey context sharing, the request can also contain current location, nearby places and relevant trip history. Avoid using this option for information you do not want to send to your provider.
Google Firebase Crashlytics processes diagnostics and crash reports. We do not sell your personal data or upload your locally stored journey history to a central Svensson Labs account server. The network disclosures above still apply to selected online features.
Storage, security and deletion
Profile settings, saved locations and journey history are kept in the Android app’s private local storage until you delete them in the app, clear its data, or uninstall. The app uses HTTPS for supported online connections and Android app isolation for local storage. There is no login or central account database holding your journeys.
Third-party diagnostic records and network requests are subject to their providers’ retention and deletion policies. Contact us with requests concerning data processed on our behalf. Deleting app data does not automatically remove records already processed by independent providers.
Your choices and rights
You may deny or revoke location, microphone, Bluetooth and notification permissions in Android settings. Dependent features may then stop working. You can use the app without enabling AI or adding an AI provider. Under applicable data protection law you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to certain processing. Children and updates
This is a general-purpose navigation app and is not specifically directed at children. We will update this page when our handling of personal information materially changes.
